These ollas hold enough water for a single plant in a pot to last a couple of days. Nice that you don't have to perch a plastic bottle on top. Perhaps you could, I haven't tried it. At any rate they are very functional and cute!

Remove a handful of dirt and push the the Oya™ Watering Spike straight down or at a slight angle (whatever fits best) into the pot until 2/3 of the spike is buried.

When To Refill
First, follow any watering instructions on the original plant tag. Then, put your fingers two inches into the soil and:
- If your plant doesn’t like a lot of water and the soil is cool, WAIT until the soil is dry to refill your Spike once it’s empty.
- If your plant likes water and the soil is cool, refill your Spike when it’s empty.
Continue to surface water when you refill the Spike.
The Patina
The top of the Spike will develop a Mineral Patina pattern. Similar to how leather changes color, the mineralization of water will create unique white rings around the exposed area of the Spike. This is 100% natural, promotes healthy mineral separation, and creates a unique look on each spike.

Peace of mind. We were away for 7 days. I filled all spikes full before departing. When I arrived home yesterday the spikes were empty (which I expected) but the soil was moist AND all plants were doing great! Just what I had hoped for!
The plant are still alive after two weeks, a record for me balcony. Saying up to five days is a stretch, I berley get three.
Easy, Efficient, Effective! I’ve been looking at getting these for a while now and finally did. I set it up before going on vacation in my grow bags and in a corner of my raised bed that doesn’t have a drip connection. I love the Ollas! The small ones are wonderful for pots. The medium ones and larger ones are great for raised beds. I've attached 2 photos, one shows the small olla in a container pot with yellow bee balm and the other shows the larger size in one of my raised beds. It's mid-spring here in Tucson, so I've already covered my raised bed with shade cloth. One can just see the beginning of summer seeds popping up and 2 Wooley Milkweed plants under the black shade cloth. The yellow bee balm is doing quite well in the container. The milkweed and summer seeds were just recently planted so they are still small.
LOVE THEM! They will be used in my grow bags. I am very familiar with this product and have approx 10+ Oya’s in-house that I have been using for the past several years for my raised above ground planters. Also, the large size Oya keeps my two rose shrubs very happy. No over watering! PS: my son who lives in Washington State, just purchased 4 large Oya’s for his raised garden bed - he keeps hearing me talk about how great they are.

I love the Growoya ollas and have had good success with the pots and the spikes. In general they work better than my homemade ones and some cheaper ones I’ve found on Amazon. My only complaint is the confusion on the website regarding shipping. Some of the items say free shipping over $50 but when you put >$50 in your basket it tells you that you need $x more to be greater than $125 to get free shipping. Basically what I see and understand is that you have to order more than $125 for free shipping. The seller should probably revise the website to reflect the correct info. Other than that I will continue to buy these ollas.
I have been a Grow Oya fan for years, using them in my outdoor planters to grow flowers, herbs and even trees! But my indoor houseplants have been suffering. I have actually had the thought multiple times that I wish there was an Oya I could use inside my house. And now there is!! Love them so far. I am using them in crates that I am trying to grow potatoes in. We are going away for a week. I have no doubt that my potato plants will have plenty of water while we are gone.
These are great. I had some outdoor potted plants in the bright sun that were drying out too fast. If I forgot them for a day, they were in trouble. The growoyas are definitely making the situation more forgiving!
I have a couple finicky indoor plants that I forget to regularly water. These help keep the soil moist. They’re also the perfect size for small outdoor pots. I plan to buy more next garden season for my herbs etc. that I put in small pots.

Can I use fertilizer in an Oya Watering Spike?
We don't recommend putting fertilizer IN the Oya as most fertilizers are not 100% soluble, so this could clog the porosity of the Oya. Instead, add fertilizer when you surface water.
Is dark growth on the exterior normal?
Some dark, natural growth can occur naturally on the exposed area of the Spike. If this is bothersome, it can be easily wiped off with a damp cloth.
