- No daily watering - water your plants while on vacation
- 70% less water use
- Natural irrigation system
Made from an unique and porous clay formula, the Oya™ Watering Pot saves time watering your garden and reduces water consumption by up to 70%. Instead of watering daily, water just once a week.
After burying the Oya™ Watering Pot among your vegetables or plants, their roots will stretch towards the water source and attach themselves to the outside of the pot. This technique enables your plants to draw exactly the amount of water they need. It's effortless and easy.
With 1,000+ 5 star reviews, we GUARANTEE that you will love your Oya™ Watering Pots in 90-days or your money back.
Soaker hose? Irrigation system? Watering plants while on vacation?
The Oya™ Watering Pot solves ALL your garden watering needs.
How it works:
When filled with water, moisture seeps out slowly through the Oya™ watering pot's walls to water your plants right at the roots.
Once established, the roots of your plants will instinctively grow towards the water source (you’ll need to surface water also for the first couple weeks). Over time the roots attach themselves to the outside of the Oya™ watering pot and draw water out as they need it.
Your plants take just what they need — no more, no less.
Plant
Dig a small hole in your garden and bury your Oya™ watering pot leaving the neck and top exposed.
Water
With a hose or a watering can fill you Oya™ watering pot to the top. Then just walk away.
Grow
Replace the silicone lid (yes, it comes with one) and watch your garden grow with less water and much less effort. Refill your Oya™ watering pot every 5 days, or whenever the water level is getting low.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Watering plants while on vacation?
You've come to the right place! Oya's only need to be filled every 5-7 days, so it's significantly less work for your neighbor to pop over and refill you pots. You'll be the envy of the neighborhood.
Does this replace a soaker hose?
Yes! When you bury your Oya Watering Pot, the roots of your plants attached to the Oya and draw out the water they need, no more no less.
Is this an irrigation system?
Yes! Space multiple Oya Watering Pots across your garden to create a natural irrigation system for your garden.
What plants grow best with an Oya™ watering pot?
We’ve seen the best results with:
Tomatoes, bell peppers, chilli peppers, potatoes (and most nightshades), cucumbers, salad greens, kale, herbs, edible flowers, gourds, melons, squash, beans, peas, and corn.
Plants that have fibrous roots system and an above-ground canopy work best. The more creeping the root, the better they'll be able to grow to find the Oya™ watering pot.
Can I use this to water flowers, bushes, small trees etc?
Yes! The Oya™ Watering Pot works for many plants beyond vegetables, include grass.
We have seen success with all types of plants, including taproot systems. However, surface watering is required till roots are established at around 10-14 days.
The Oya™ watering pot isn't used for sprouting or germinating seeds. Seeds and transplants need to be surface watered until the root system has developed enough to reach for the Oya™ watering pot for regular (and efficient) watering.
Do I need to remove the Oya™ Watering Pot at the end of the season?
We recommend removing the Oya™ watering pot at the end of the growing season to keep it in top shape.
Remove plant growth from the Oya™ watering pot and wash it with 10 parts water and 1 part vinegar (a stiff brush can help), then let it air dry before storing.
If you live in a climate at risk of frost, remove it from the ground before the frost and bring it indoors. Due to the porous nature of the clay, the Oya can be susceptible to cracking or shattering in freezing temperatures.
Can I plant the Oya™ Watering Pot at any time of the season?
100% Yes! Before, during or late season, your plants love water. The Oya™ Watering Pot can be easily added in between your existing plants to immediately see water and time saving benefits.
Do I need to put a lid it?
Yup! Put a lid on it.
Your Oya™ watering pot comes with a silicone lid. Use it to help keep evaporation in and critters out. It’s designed to withstand the rigours of the garden—beating sun, wet/dry conditions, etc.—and it’s bright colour won’t get lost among your lush garden.
Does it come with a lid?
Yes, the Oya™ Watering Pot comes with a lid.
Can I use fertilizer in an Oya Watering Pot?
If you use fertilizer, we recommend using our Oya™ Organic Fertilizer in the soil around the Oya.
As for putting fertilizer IN an Oya, most fertilizers are not 100% soluble, so this could clog the porosity of the Oya. Less water, or no water, would flow out so we don't recommend using fertilizer IN an Oya.
Do I still need to surface water my garden?
We recommend surface watering for the first couple weeks after planting your Oya™ watering pot to allow the roots to establish themselves. After that, you will only need to surface water sparingly.
